Gabe Barkley, CEO - MHW Ltd.
Gabe is the CEO of MHW Ltd., a national beverage alcohol importer, distributor, and service platform making US market entry more efficient for producers and importers across all categories.
Before joining MHW, Gabe held various roles in finance, technology, and consulting at Microsoft, Deloitte Consulting and Accenture, as well as holding leadership positions at two beverage alcohol companies – VinConnect, a start-up direct-to-consumer wine sales platform for top international wineries, where he helped connect more than thirty ultra-premium European wineries with over two thousand US consumers and La Cave Warehouse, a wine retail and private storage firm based in Dallas, TX, where he led initiatives that resulted in substantial growth and operational optimizations.
Gabe received his BA from The University of Dallas and his MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Ellen O. Carr, Portfolio Manager - Weaver C. Barksdale (WCB)
Ellen O. Carr, CFA, has 20 years of investment experience in the leveraged credit markets. Ms. Carr is a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at Weaver Barkdsdale, a boutique institutional fixed income management firm, and the firm’s Senior Credit Analyst. She has been with Weaver Barksdale since 2013.
Prior to joining Weaver Barksdale, Ms. Carr was a high yield portfolio manager and analyst at The Capital Group from 1999-2012, where she was personally responsible for $4 billion in high yield assets as part of the firm’s $25 billion high yield effort. Additionally, Ms. Carr has been an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School since 2013, where she teaches classes on the credit cycle and cash flow forecasting.
Ms. Carr holds a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Richard F. Steere, Jr., Managing Partner - New Heights Capital
Mr. Steere founded New Heights Capital in 2006 and sponsored the acquisition of Fitness Edge LLC. In addition to being Chairman of the Board of Managers, he served as CFO and the active day-to-day managing partner of Fitness Edge, leading all financial and corporate administration. He is currently a Board member and CFO for Fresh Meal Plan Holdings LLC.
Prior to founding New Heights Capital in 2006, Mr. Steere was an investment banker with Sperry, Mitchell & Company, a NYC-based mergers & acquisitions advisory firm serving the middle market. For 20 years, Mr. Steere has been dedicated to the lower middle market, primarily advising and working with niche, entrepreneurial companies that are privately held by owner/operators and families.
He has completed dozens of transactions across a wide range of industries, including sales, recapitalizations, financings, buyside advisory engagements, and equity investments. Prior deals were done with NYSE firms, such as Corning, Emerson, and Kinder Morgan, and leading private equity firms, including Advent International, Norwest Equity, and Parthenon Capital, each of which is a multi-billion dollar investment firm.
Mr. Steere is an honors graduate of Georgetown University with a major in International Economics from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
